The principal aim of the Goya and Italy exhibition is to reveal all the grandeur and genius of Goya’s creative world and its links to Italy, placing particular emphasis on the Aragonese painter’s time in the artistic caput mundi which was eighteenth-century Rome.
The exhibition catalogue contains essays by renowned experts in art history and Goya in particular, such as Juan J. Luna, Gonzalo M. Borrás and Concha Herrero, amongst others, as well as scholars from Italian institutions who offer the results of their studies of Goya’s period in Italy; Mª Elisa Tittoni (Museo di Roma) and Lucia Fornari (Galleria Nazionale di Parma) amongst others.
