On 4 April 2006 the Aragonese Regional Government awarded the Aragon-Goya Prize upon the recommendation of the jury to Mr. Arnulf Rainer, in acknowledgement of the direct links between his strong artistic career and Goya due to his appreciation of the tragedy of existence, in which human pain is transformed into spine-tingling beauty.
Arnulf Rainer is considered to be one of the leading figures of the 20th century artistic vanguard and his heart-rending work springs from the wealth of his internal world and the freedom inside him waiting to be expressed.
The exhibition offers 68 works by this Austrian artist, arranged in 3 parts:
